IT

We’re responsible for ensuring the business has the best systems and applications at its disposal to help us in our aim to take the outdoor market by storm. We have a range of generalists and specialists on the team, and, like the rest of the company, we’re all 100% committed to helping Blacks achieve its ambitious aims. Those who work hard and make a strong contribution will progress fast, too – rapidly taking on more and more responsibility and receiving the rewards that go with that responsibility.

Marketing

We provide a huge range of marketing materials to support all our retail fascias – from point-of-sale materials and promotional campaigns to press advertising and catalogue production. As a marketing department, we’re trying to do more than just change people’s perception of Blacks in line with our new identity. We’re trying to change the perception of an entire market sector – outdoor clothing and equipment. It’s a great time to join.

Finance

The Finance department of any retailer is fast-paced and demanding, but with a business going through as much change as this one, there are real opportunities for individuals to prove themselves and accelerate in their department. Whether you’re looking for an entry level position within a support role or a fast-track position after graduating, there are many options within our group. There’s a real rapport within the team – and we ensure accounts are very visible from many angles of the business. It’s essential to have this method of working when a business has undergone so much change and it’s our aim to provide support to individuals to enable them to work in the fast-paced and cohesive manner this company needs.”

HR

Working in the retail sector requires a fast, commercial and pro-active approach. The HR department is no exception. In fact it’s our task to attract, retain and develop people who can bring exactly these values to the business. Working as a team of specialists within different fields, including Learning & Development, Recruitment, Rewards, Employee Relations and Payroll, we’re able to tackle all HR challenges effectively – and learn from each other. Thanks to recent innovations like the creation of the intermediary Town Manager role and the Manager Development Programme we’ve helped set up for Area Managers, rapid career progression is becoming more and more prevalent at Blacks.
